Plans to usher in the New Year at the much-anticipated Gospo 1 Party have hit a pause after organisers announced the postponement of the December 31 event, citing security and venue capacity concerns.
In an official statement released by 7 Heaven Music Management, the team confirmed that the gospel concert, which was set to take place at the IYF Grounds, will no longer go on as scheduled after projections showed the venue could not safely host the expected crowd.
According to the organisers, attendance was projected to exceed 8,000 people; a number they say the initially secured venue could not safely accommodate without risking the well-being of fans.
"This decision has been reached primarily on security grounds," the statement read. "The venue initially secured is unable to safely accommodate the large number of attendees expected."
The organisers revealed that they explored every possible alternative to save the New Year's Eve show, including scouting for new venues and making last-minute logistical adjustments. However, with only days left to the event and most suitable venues already fully booked for the festive season, relocating the concert proved impossible.
They were keen to clarify that the postponement was not a result of poor planning or organisational challenges, but rather a precautionary move driven solely by safety considerations.
"This challenge is purely security- and venue-related and not due to any shortcomings on the part of the organizers," the statement added.
"Your safety is our top priority," 7 Heaven Music Management said, stressing that they could not proceed with any arrangement that posed a potential risk to attendees. "We deeply care for and value our fans, and we want to see all of you healthy and safe in 2026 and beyond."
The Gospo 1 Party had been shaping up to be one of the standout gospel events of the festive season, with excitement steadily building across social media platforms. Its postponement leaves a noticeable gap in Nairobi's New Year's Eve entertainment calendar, particularly for gospel music lovers seeking a faith-filled crossover experience.
Despite the setback, organisers assured fans that the event is not cancelled, but postponed. A new date and venue will be announced soon, with promises of a better-planned, safer and more memorable experience.
"We sincerely apologize to all our fans, partners, and stakeholders who were looking forward to this special night," the statement concluded. "Your overwhelming support and excitement means everything to us."
As fans await further communication, 7 Heaven Music Management closed their message by wishing supporters a happy new year in advance, urging patience and understanding as they work to deliver a concert that matches both expectations and safety standards.
