Kenya is gearing up for a spectacular end to the year as cities and towns across the country prepare for a pulsating New Year's Eve crossover into 2026. From large-scale gospel concerts and comedy showcases to beachside parties and boutique festivals under ancient baobabs, the final night of 2025 promises a rich mix of faith, fun, music and reflection; mirroring the diversity of Kenya's cultural and social life.
At the heart of the celebrations is Eldoret, the self-styled City of Champions, which is bracing for one of the largest gospel crossover events in the region. The 14th edition of the annual Pamoja Concert is set to take over the Eldoret Sports Club, drawing worshippers and revellers from across the North Rift and beyond.
Organised under the theme of unity and gratitude, the concert has grown over the years into a major fixture on Kenya's gospel calendar, blending worship with celebration as the nation ushers in a new year.
Organisers say gates will open at 6pm, with performances running "till dawn" as thousands gather to sing, pray and celebrate. The event will be broadcast live on KTN, extending its reach to audiences across the country and in the diaspora.
This year's line-up reads like a who's who of East African gospel music. Tanzanian gospel icon Rose Muhando, famed for her electrifying stage presence and timeless hits, will headline the concert.
She will be joined by some of Kenya's most beloved gospel voices, including Evelyn Wanjiru, Emmy Kosgei, Daddy Owen, SammyGee, Kestin Mbogo and Christine Otieno. Also slated to perform are Josejose, Linda Jepkosgei, Cathy Komen, Maureen Likavo, Boaz Limo, Joyce Lang'at, Lydia Henry and Tom Okusi.
Adding to the spectacle will be DJ Warship on the decks, with hype duties shared between Hype Dago and Hype Man Souja, while comedian and media personality Dr Ofweneke takes on MC duties. Musical backing will be provided by the AIC Fellowship Choir, IVC Band and Mzungu Mwafrika, promising a seamless blend of worship, praise and contemporary gospel sounds.
The event has also attracted strong political and civic support. Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii has invited residents, professionals, faith groups and leaders to come together for the crossover celebration, describing it as a moment of thanksgiving for a year of blessings. President William Ruto is expected to attend as the chief guest, underscoring the concert's growing national significance.
"God has been faithful to us throughout this year, and this is a moment for us to gather as a people in unity and gratitude as we usher in 2026," Governor Bii said in his invitation.
While Eldoret leans heavily into worship, comedy lovers have a compelling alternative in Laikipia County. In a departure from its traditional urban venues, the legendary Churchill Show is heading to the foothills of Mt Kenya for a unique New Year's Eve experience. Dubbed Crossover with Churchill, the event will be held at Mtali Bush Camps in Nanyuki, offering fans a rare blend of top-tier comedy and tranquil outdoor scenery.
Starting at 5pm and running till late, the show promises laughter, music, food and a fireworks display set against the backdrop of the Mt Kenya landscape. Headline acts include Captain Otoyo, Teacher Wanjiku and Saviour; some of the most recognisable faces in Kenyan comedy; ensuring a night of humour and light-hearted reflection as the year draws to a close.
Back in the Nairobi metropolitan area, faith-based gatherings will also take centre stage. Dr Sarah K and her Back to the Root of Worship Ministries are set to host the Worship Moments Crossover Kesha at Ruiru Stadium. The prayer and praise-filled event begins at 9pm, with organisers emphasising that entry is free. Worshippers can expect a night of deep spiritual reflection led by the renowned Shachah team, offering an alternative for those seeking a solemn and prayerful transition into the new year.
For Nairobi's vibrant nightlife crowd, the city will not disappoint. Comedy heavyweight Eric Omondi is set to host a major New Year party at Ignite Bistro in Buruburu Shopping Centre. Marketed as a chance to "cross over into 2026 in style," the event promises a high-energy mix of humour, music and party vibes, appealing to fans looking for a lively urban celebration.
Dance music enthusiasts, meanwhile, will be drawn to the Opulence New Year Dance at Al Capone, opposite Garden City Mall. Branded as Notorious Night, the event promises "legendary vibes" and a premium clubbing experience, targeting revellers keen to ring in the new year on the dance floor.
One of Africa's top underwriter, Old Mutual, is set to light up Nairobi's skyline with a spectacular fireworks display at the Old Mutual Tower in Upper Hill as the country ushers in the New Year.
The annual ceremony, which has become a signature moment for the financial services giant, is part of Old Mutual's long-standing tradition of marking the transition into a new year. As Kenyans count down to 2026, the display is expected to draw spectators from across the city, offering a visual symbol of renewal, optimism and fresh beginnings.
Those seeking a more refined celebration can head to the Safari Park Hotel & Casino, where the Nyama Choma Ranch African Restaurant will host an upscale New Year's Eve party. Starting at 7pm, guests will enjoy a welcome cocktail, a gourmet safari dinner and a visually stunning show of lights and colours.
The night will be headlined by a live performance from singer Sanaipei Tande, with MC Pato hosting and entertainment provided by the Safari Cats Dancers, acrobats and a guest DJ.
Along Kiambu Road, millennials and lovers of classic hits will find their space at The Bar Next Door, which is hosting a special New Year's Eve edition of its popular Legendary Nights. Billed as the Old School Takeover, the event promises timeless music and a nostalgic atmosphere for those keen to dance their way into 2026 with Nameless and Juacali expected to serenade the patrons.
The coast, as always, offers its own flavour of celebration. In Mombasa, Bongo Flava star Lava Lava is expected to light up the Jumeirah beachfront, with media personality Eric Gates and DJ Deewiz keeping the energy high in a night of music and seaside revelry.
Further north in Kilifi, thousands of festival-goers will gather for the Beneath the Baobabs Festival, formerly known as Kilifi New Year. Running from December 30 to January 1, the annual celebration is held above the source of Takaungu Creek, nestled within Kilifi's iconic baobab forest.
