A group of elders in Ndhiwa Sub-county have threatened to curse some ODM leaders from Nyanza who want sons of Homa Bay County holding appointive jobs removed.

The threat follows speculation that a section of leaders is scheming for the dismissal of Internal Security Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo, who hails from Homa Bay.

The talk has infuriated elders, who accused the “plotters” against Dr Omollo of being traitors driven by jealousy.

According to the elders, any son or daughter of the Luo community who secures a government job should be embraced and supported in service delivery.

Through their organisation, Ndhiwa Elders on Socio-economic Development, the elders reminded political leaders to stop unnecessary jealousy and rivalry.

Chairman Michael Nyomino vowed that they would not allow politicians to fight innocent sons of the community.

Nyomino warned those behind Dr Omollo’s alleged dismissal scheme to stop their actions, or face a curse. “We are disappointed by our political leaders who want Raymond Omollo and Michael Agwanda removed from their positions. We are telling them to stop, or we will curse them if they defy our directive,” Nyomino said.

Agwanda is currently the Chief of Staff in ODM leader Oburu Odinga’s office. Nyomino said politicians should stop unnecessary wrangles. “We do not want political leaders who are selfish towards their brothers holding appointive jobs. Let politicians embrace them,” Nyomino said.

Elder Otieno Ogingo, former Ndhiwa MP, called on leaders to maintain peace and focus on development in Nyanza region.

“We do not want unnecessary chaos where politicians fight those in appointive positions. Let leaders cooperate with them to bring development instead of squabbles whose origins are unclear,” he said.

The elders also warned ODM leaders against pushing for zoning of strongholds in the expected pre-election coalition agreement with the UDA party.

Ogingo urged ODM leaders to put their house in order for unity to prevail in the party, warning that divisions could threaten its survival.

“We hear of Linda Ground and Linda Mwananchi in ODM. How will they negotiate with President Ruto if they are already divided?” he posed.

In earlier responses to similar claims, several leaders have dismissed the alleged push to remove Dr Omollo, terming it political misinformation and unnecessary infighting.
Ndhiwa MP Martin Owino defended the PS, accusing some leaders of jealousy and urging them to allow him to serve in peace.

Homa Bay Town MP George Peter Kaluma also dismissed reports of any ODM push to remove the PS, describing such claims as baseless propaganda.
