Netizens have been treated to free drama, after President Yoweri Museveni’s son General Muhoozi Kainerugaba responded to Kizza Besigye’s wife, Winnie Byanyima’s statement on her past relationship with President Yoweri Museveni.
According to General Muhoozi, Winnie who is married to embattled opposition leader Kizza Besigye, tried to wreck their home and that Museveni kicked her out.
“There was nothing normal about your relationship with my father,” he tweeted. "You found a happy home and tried to wreck it. You’re a disaster of a woman,” he added.
Winnie Byanyima warned Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba to go slow about her past relationship with his father, President Museveni or else she “may need to provide Hard evidence of the facts.”
"There is a more complex history between your father and I that we have both chosen to move past with mutual respect. However, if you continue to present a false narrative, I may need to provide hard evidence of the facts. I prefer to maintain our dignified approach, but that choice remains yours. I consider this matter closed." Winnie responded.
Winnie would further add that the President’s son might require medical attention, stating that he needs help.
Conversations about the former relationship between Winnie and President Museveni have gained traction on social media, where some netizens claim that the Ugandan president is reveling in Besigye's hardships because of their intertwined past.
General Muhoozi further hinted at the possibility of bringing Besigye before the General Court Martial, citing Besigye's behavior and the actions of his ex-wife, Winnie Byanyima, as determining factors. Muhoozi specifically warned that if Winnie mentioned his parents, Besigye would face military court proceedings.
On Friday, Besigye found himself charged with treason in a civilian court after his contentious case was shifted from a military tribunal.
