Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has urged Azimio leaders to reconsider staging mass protests against the government.

Speaking on Saturday in Iguya village, Ikolomani, Kakamega County, Mudavadi stated that such actions are regressive and could potentially lead to economic downfall.

"We are telling the opposition and its leadership that it is not time for protests but for development. We all know the mess Kenya is in economically, and we cannot afford to waste any more time engaging in politics that will not change anything at this moment," said Mudavadi.

Mudavadi warned that the government will not passively observe opposition leaders undertaking actions that could jeopardize the nation's stability.

He called on Azimio leader Raila Odinga, to recognize that the election season has ended and shift his focus towards economic issues.

"If they think they can change anything now, then they are totally wrong,” he said.

“So, our friends should stop wasting time in protests.”

He called on the political leadership in the country to work towards making a difference in the country.

Mudavadi's remarks come a day after Azimio leaders led supporters in mass protests against what they termed as a revolution against President William Ruto's government.

The Friday protests culminated in the launch of a 10-million-signature collection campaign, signaling the Azimio terms as a withdrawal of their sovereignty from the current regime.

Odinga, addressing supporters at Kamukunji grounds in Nairobi on Friday, called on Kenyans to brace for a return of the weekly protests, citing the failure of the Kenya Kwanza government to listen to their grievances and lower the cost of living.
