Tyler Perry: Why I couldn't meet President Ruto

American actor, filmmaker, and playwright Tyler Perry has expressed regret for not meeting President William Ruto, who paid a courtesy call to his studios earlier this week.

Through a post on his socials, Perry said he had a tight schedule and could not free himself up to meet Ruto.

He, however, promised to make it up to him by visiting Kenya soon.

“Unfortunately my schedule was booked and I’m heartbroken that I couldn’t move things around in time to be there to greet President Ruto of Kenya as he and his family and delegation toured Tyler Perry studios.

“The good news is that means I will have to make my way to Kenya very soon! I am honoured, humbled, and thankful that you stopped by President Ruto,” he said.

The world-renowned producer was also thankful to iconic host Steve Harvey for stepping in for him and showing the president around.

“What a blessing. Tyler Perry Studios had the honour of hosting the President and First Lady of Kenya in addition to a delegation From Kenyan and the United States Government.

“Thank you @iamsteveharveytv for stepping in,” he added.

Acquired by Tyler Perry in 2015, the 330-acre property is situated in the heart of Atlanta on the historic site of the former Fort McPherson Army base.

The major motion picture studio, one of the largest production facilities in the U.S., features forty buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places, twelve purpose-built sound stages, 200 acres of green space, and a diverse backlot.
