Togo's ruling party, the Union for the Republic, won a majority in the legislative elections, the country's Independent National Electoral Commission said Saturday.
President Gnassingbe's ruling Union for the Republic party (UNIR) won 108 of 113 seats.
Togo today holds legislative elections after a highly divisive constitutional reform that opponents say paves the way for Gnassingbe to further extend decadeslong grip on power.
