A casual worker in Komarock has landed in court after his girlfriend accused him of beating her to a pulp because she woke him up in the middle of the night to see his friends off.

Brian Kabaini Kikhanga is accused of assaulting W.A.N, an NTSA employee, on May 25 at Komarock Estate in Nairobi.

Prior to the incident,  the accused had invited some of his friends over to his house, where he lived with his girlfriend, for drinks. They had fun but since Kikhanga was tired, he excused himself and went to bed early, leaving his pals drinking in the living room.

When it was time for the friends to leave, his girlfriend woke him up so that he could see them off. On being woken up, the accused complained bitterly that his sleep had been rudely interrupted.

He grudgingly saw them off but swore to teach his girlfriend a lesson. When he came back to the house, he found the woman in bed and immediately rained kicks and blows on her.

W.A.N screamed for help and a neighbour who heard her distress call went to her rescue and found her bleeding heavily from the mouth and nose.

She called her parents who came to pick her and took her to the hospital before filing a P3 Form, leading to Kikhanga's arrest and arraignment.

In court, the accused denied injuring his lover and was granted a cash bail of Sh10,000 pending hearing of the case on November 5.
