5-year-old testifies against mother's lover after witnessing fatal stabbing

A five-year-old girl testified in court, recounting the horrific moment when she witnessed her mother being stabbed to death by her lover.

Testifying before Justice Samwel Mohochi the minor claimed to have watched his stepfather Paul Mwangi stab her mother, Jane Njeri Mwangi to death on May 26, 2024, in Free Area, Nakuru County.

"My mother was from work, she found Paul with her phone and asked what he was doing with the phone," she said.

Suddenly she said the man pushed her mother to the ground, picked up a knife then stabbed her in the chest and back multiple times.

"I was outside watching, Njeri our neighbour called me to their house within the plot, my aunty later came for me and asked what had happened, I told them Paul killed my mother," she said.

The minor who identified Paul as the perpetrator said he had a red shirt on the fateful day. She revealed that her mother had told her aunt to get her a plot to relocate because of Paul.

"When he used to come to our house, he wasn't a good person, he did bad things to my mother. Nobody told me my mother had died, I saw her myself. After killing my mother, Paul was attacked and beaten by an irate crowd," she said.
