Makueni businessman Dennis Kasyoki dies in grisly road crash

Makueni has been thrust into mourning following the death of businessman and philanthropist Dennis Kasyoki, popularly known as "Nzou" or "Kababy," who died in a grisly road accident along the Nairobi-Mombasa Highway..

According to police reports, the accident occurred at around 12:20 am near the Primarosa area of Greenpark in Athi River. Kasyoki was driving a Ford Ranger when it collided with a Mercedes Actros trailer transporting a container of used shoes from Mombasa to the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Machakos County police commander Samuel Mugo said the Ford Ranger attempted to overtake the trailer before cutting back into the lane. Both vehicles lost control, causing the trailer to overturn and its container to crash onto the pickup.

"Kasyoki died on the spot. His passenger, identified as James Mwangangi Mulatya, sustained injuries and was rushed to Shalom Community Hospital. The driver of the trailer, Abdullahi Ouru Hillow, escaped unhurt," Mugo confirmed.

The accident has left the community in Mbooni, Makueni County, reeling from shock.

Kasyoki, known for his booming businesses and generosity, was fondly referred to as "Mweene Kiwanza" and "Sonko" by locals.

"He was a man of the people. If you called him at midnight, he would show up. He never turned anyone away," said a family friend during a condolence gathering.

Another resident described him as a pillar of the community: "He helped educate children, contributed to building schools, and always checked on people's welfare. His death is a big loss."

Messages of grief and disbelief have continued to flood social media, with friends and associates remembering him as a vibrant, selfless figure.

Kasyoki's body was taken to the Machakos County morgue as police launched investigations into the cause of the accident.
