Heartbreaking eulogy reveals bitter last words of Bomet boy killed by father over milk, bread

The final words of nine-year-old Emmanuel Kimutai, the Bomet boy allegedly killed by his father over bread and milk, have surfaced a day after his emotional burial.

In a moving eulogy read during his funeral at Chebugon village, the late Kimutai addressed his parents, classmates, and the woman whose bread and milk he was accused of taking.

The message, written in his voice, painted a haunting picture of an innocent life cut short.

To his mother, Emmanuel's last words captured his struggle for life as he longed to grow in her arms.

"Mama, I didn't want to leave you. I saw your tears as I struggled for my last breath. All because of bread and milk that were not even ours. Now I am gone, and all you have is pain where my laughter used to be," the eulogy read.

He spoke of betrayal to his father, bitterly saying anger had blinded him.

"Baba, you were my protector, my guide, my hero. But anger blinded you, and your hands became the chains of my death," the words stated.

In another section, Emmanuel asked forgiveness from the woman whose bread and milk he was accused of taking.

"I am sorry, I was hungry, and I touched what was yours. Bread and milk that were small to you became the reason I am no more. What was taken could have been replaced, yet my life cannot," the message read.

The young boy also reached out to his classmates, recalling dreams left unfulfilled.

"My friends, I wanted to laugh with you again, to sit in class, to chase our dreams together. But I was forced to die before I could finish even one more lesson. Remember me when you hold your pens," the eulogy said.

Finally, in his message to mourners, Emmanuel pleaded that his death not be in vain.

"When you see my small coffin, do not just see death, see the pain I carried and the dreams that were stolen. Today I am gone, forced to die because of bread and milk that could have been replaced. But do not let my blood cry in vain," it read.

The poignant words, read against the backdrop of grief, left mourners in tears, underscoring the tragic end of a child whose only fault was hunger.

Emmanuel, a pupil at Chebugon Primary School, had been expected to attend the school's Prayer Day on Friday, September 12 - the very day he died.

According to reports, he suffered severe chest injuries, internal bleeding, and lung damage after being beaten by his father for allegedly taking his bread and milk.

A boda boda rider who rushed him to hospital confirmed the boy's critical condition, while an autopsy later revealed he succumbed to breathing complications caused by the injuries.
