DPP seeks age assessment for female TikToker in Mombasa heroin trafficking case

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions has moved to intensify prosecution in a narcotics case involving a young female TikToker and her co-accused in Mombasa, as authorities reinforce efforts to curb drug trafficking along the Coast.

The prosecution appeared before Resident Magistrate Green Odera at the Mombasa Law Courts, where it successfully sought an age assessment and social inquiry report for the female suspect.

She was arrested alongside Amir Latif for allegedly trafficking 109.17 grammes of heroin valued at Sh327,510.

The court directed the Nyali Sub-County Children’s Officer to prepare a social inquiry report to establish whether the suspect is a minor.

Both suspects are expected to face charges under Section 4(a)(ii) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (Control) Act No. 4 of 1994, as amended in 2022.

Prosecutors allege that they jointly trafficked heroin in the Maweni area of Nyali Sub-County on February 2, 2026.

Principal Prosecution Counsel Purity Musembi opposed their release on bond, citing the seriousness of narcotics offences and the need to protect the integrity of ongoing investigations.

The court directed the prosecution to file a formal affidavit opposing bail.

Pending the age assessment, the court ordered Latif to be remanded at Central Police Station, while the female suspect was committed to Likoni Children’s Remand Home.

The case will be mentioned on February 18, 2026.
