Light moments at Dr Job Obwaka's funeral, family shares humorous emotional tributes

The late veteran gynaecologist, Dr Job Obwaka, is set to be laid to rest later today in Mumias, Kakamega County.

The burial ceremony has been attended by family, friends, and political leaders, all of whom have eulogised the departed doctor.

His wife, children, and extended family are also present, sharing heartfelt tributes in honour of his life and legacy.

One of his sons would ascend to the podium and enlighten the room with witty yet loving memories about his father, “though he is my dad and I loved him very much, often times we would clash”, said Antony Obwaka the fifth child of the family.

“Dad was very strict, and in as much we had our differences we always remain family, it was like a relationship between water and electricity… you know, in fact dad never used to take alcohol nor love football but believe it or not sherehe ilikuwa inafanyika kwake, we would bring party to our home” the third son, scoffed.

“I never lacked food, never went to bed hungry whilst living under his roof though let’s say, only after I left the house it is when I would, but anyways he was my dad,” Antony reiterated.

The last born of the family, Chris Obwaka, who followed in his father’s footstep careerwise, also took the podium and started off on a lighter note, “So as any great inventor or scientist always do, you go through several prototypes, before you get your final working product, so I would like to say to mom and to dad, Thank you for saving the best for last, Dad I would not have a been the Doctor that I am today were it not for your guidance, encouragement and example…”

Finishing the tributes, Obwaka’s widow draped in a fancy purple head gear went  ahead narrating and reminiscing her journey with her departed late husband and thanking and appreciating everyone who walked with her and supported her.
